Preparing for the course exam
Our course exam will concentrate mostly, but not exclusively, on theoretical material, and mostly on
material for which you have not needed to demonstrate engagement via assignments. You will need to
do no coding during the exam:
- indexing
- transactions
- concurrency
- views
- access control
- E/R diagrams
- primary and foreign keys
- Closures, FDs, BCNF
There is a practice exam on our moodle site. That practice exam has two purposes: - for you to see the mechanics of taking an exam on moodle. For example, what the interface looks
like, how do you save your answers, etc. - for you to see the flavor of questions you will have in the actual exam. This DOES NOT mean that it
will be the same type of questions for the same topics. It is just a few practice questions for the same
topics.
You will have a maximum of two hours to answer the exam, fro 7-9 pm on Tuesday June 22. You can
turn in the exam earlier than that, but once you turn it in you will not be able to change your answers.
The exam will be open book, open notes, open Internet. The one thing you cannot do during the exam
is communicate with other humans, by any communication mechanisms whatsoever. You should also
not share the questions that will be on the exam, either during or after the exam.
If you have questions, you can do one of the following: email me your question, or ask me on zoom. I
will join the zoom room that has been created for office hours, and I will be there from 7-9 PM.
